about the artist

The question of ‘why not?’ underlines my creative process.  Forget the box! It’s obsolete…it’s all about whatever shape you want to throw on that dance floor!  The process drives my practice!!  For me, work well done is work I have thoroughly enjoyed making…work that has made me think, sweat, cry, scream and come back for more!!!  Work that gets my back up; pushes me…gives me cause for doubt. Makes me push in order for ‘why not?’ to become possible.  Boundaries?  What boundaries?

I aim to make my studio a dynamic space in which I am spontaneous and inquisitive about material exploration.  My experimentation involves a range of mediums including sound, shadows and light.  Discovery through hands-on experimentation is important to me because it fuels my creative momentum and shapes the fluidly evolving direction of each project.

With my creative practice being rooted in the exploration of texture, pattern and a diverse range of materials, the interplay between different media transforms my ‘making process’. This allows each project to evolve organically as the materials themselves guide the development and final form of each piece.

Using techniques of layering and reconstruction, both the canvas and the installation space are platforms for creative experimentation.  This enables my work to be fluid, responsive and guided by impulse and adaptability.
